Case Description
My sister has a loose front tooth and has been told she has an infection. She is taking antibiotics. Her dentist told her it is urgent and that she needs to get the problem taken care of immediately. She has a lot of pain and gets a lump in that area at night and can't sleep.

They told her it will be $2000 after insurance, which she needs to pay up front, because she has to have the tooth pulled, the area cleaned out, and an implant because her roots are small and wont support a bridge or partial. Her insurance won't cover IV anesthesia or the implant. With the economy, she doesn't have that type of money, but could make payments. She has a steady job and makes about 35k a year.

I am worried about the infection. I worry about her life. I told her to just go get the tooth pulled, but she says she has nightmares about having a missing front tooth and with her job, it will really effect the image she needs to upkeep. Plus the dentist told her it would be best to get it all done at once sine her teeth shift so much.

Does anybody know of a dentist that will bill her after they bill the insurance and hopefully allow her to make payments? Would El Rio or St. Elizabeth's be able to help her with her income level?

I appreciate ANY responses and help. Thank you!

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.
