Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $5500-6500
If this is about a cost savings, you may want to reconsider. I don''''t know how many teeth you have remaining, but you can expect to pay an oral surgeon about $3000-$4000 for the extraction of 20 remaining teeth (this is assuming 8 missing teeth already, not including wisdom teeth). You can also expect to pay around $2500-$3000 for a new set of dentures. You will require a new set of dentures every 5-10 years, so lets say 8. If you don''''t agree, look at someone who has had them longer than that and see if you can notice a shorter face (their nose and chin getting closer together). This is not a problem with the dentures, it is a problem of bone loss. You lose the sensation of biting force when you don''''t have teeth. This creates a situation where you put a tremendous amount of force on the bone in the jaws. This will cause deterioration and cause the dentures to get loose and giving the look of the shorter face. Just using todays dollars you would look to be spending over $20,000 if you live to the age of 86.You also need to consider that your ability to taste will be significantly decreased. Healing from the initial surgery will take at least 4-6 monthsYour dentist is not trying to get more money out of you. We know what denture patients tell us everyday. They tell us things that they won''''t admit to friends and family. If you think that this will let you forget about your teeth, don''''t do it, because it will make you end up thinking of them all day, every day.
